Cuba Libre – To the Vinales Valley

Cuba Libre Chapter 3 takes us to the Viñales Valley.  On our journey to Viñales we visited an area known at Las Terrazas in the Sierra del Rosario range of mountains.  This is a small community and nature reserve aimed at developing leisure and tourism in this area.  Part of this visit took us to an old coffee plantation where we were shown the old coffee bean roasting and grinding facilities.

The actual commune of Las Terrazas is by a lake, which provides leisure facilities such as this restaurant/bar and boat hire.

These last two images give an idea of how this community is laid out.  It does fit the rural surroundings fairly well.

This was one of the larger tobacco drying sheds that we drove past on the way to Viñales.

This was the view from our hotel in the Viñales Valley.  We thought it was worth the trip.

The next chapter will cover the time that we spent here before our tour moved on.
